Eight-year old cyclist raises $3710 for local charities

For some children, summer is about having fun and forgetting all about responsibility.
However eight-year-old Alex Dailey’s summer was a little different and he’s got one of those over-sized checks to prove it!

Alex and his father Tim, cycled 468 miles across the US state of Iowa for seven days, to raise money for three local charities;  Cayman Hospice Care, Cancer Society and One Dog at a time.
He presented the check this week and explained why he decided to do the trip with his father.

“Cause my grandma had cancer and she got better and I wanted to support them,” Alex said.

“It’s inspirational and I sincerely hope that a lot of other families that are watching it are taking note, are seeing what can be done, when you put your mind to it and especially if its something that a child likes to do, then he’ll do it positively and well for the right reasons,” Kerrie McMillan from the Cayman Hospice Care said.

The Daileys wanted to raise three- thousand dollars, but at the end of the trip hey raised 3,710 thanks to a lot of generous donors.
