CIAA quiet on injunction

Cayman Islands Athletics Association Executive Committee members remain quiet after a court injunction prevented the Association from holding Executive Committee elections scheduled for Thursday 20 October.

Cayman 27 understands the CIAA Annual General Meeting was postponed altogether due to the legal proceedings.

An e-mail sent 20 October to CIAA General Secretary Barbara Wilson — who is listed as a defendant — and CIAA Executive Committee member Maxine Anglin seeking comment was returned saying to expect a response but none was actually given.

Members of the CIAA Exectuve are ordered to meet with Justice Michael Wood and plaintiff Delroy Murray on 1 November to deal with the matter.

Cayman 27 reported Thursday 20 October Justice Wood granted an injunction preventing the election after Mr.Murray in an affidavit alleges the CIAA has not explained financial discrepancies on its books and is operating elections outside the CIAA’s constitutional guidelines.
