Many children are in the spirit of getting this week, especially Halloween candy.
One young man, however, recently practiced the gift of giving.
Kaz Conolly Basdeo recently celebrated his eighth birthday by asking friends to give a small donation instead of presents. He then gave that collection to the Botanic Park to help with its Children’s Garden Project.
He says he’s excited to do his part to get the project going so more children can learn about nature.
“I like how the cycle of nature — plants and animals — go,” Conolly Basdeo said. “Because there’s a lot of things in nature that humans haven’t discovered yet. So the more we learn about nature, the more we can discover.”
