Election Law changes clears big hurdle

Legislators have approved changes to the Elections Law paving the way for One Man One Vote and 19 Single Member Constituencies.
The amendments weathered a stormy debate in which MLAs like Arden McLean and Alva Suckoo challenged the motive for the changes.
However, Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin defended the changes, saying they were intended to bring fairness in the voting system and ensure no candidate has an advantage over another.
The amendments to the Election Law now heads to committee stage where adjustments will be made before it is taken back to the House for Third Reading and passage.
