Instant philanthopy funds heart surgeries

A non-profit group that helps support heart surgeries for children is the latest charity to benefit from the group “100 Men Who Give a Damn – Cayman Islands.”

Their quarterly events start with at least 100 men who gather and contribute $100 apiece before hearing pitches from three charities. A vote is held and the winning group receives the entire pot.

On Thursday (27 October), the group met in Camana Bay and heard five-minute presentations from NCVO, the YMCA and Have a Heart – Cayman Islands, with the Have a Heart group winning the vote and receiving nearly $13,000. Have a Heart supports children from throughout the Caribbean who are flown to Health City – Cayman Islands for lifesaving cardiac surgeries.
