Political leaders from Cayman and other British Overseas Territories begin the Joint Ministerial Council plenary sessions tomorrow (Tuesday) morning in London.
The new Overseas Territories Minister Baroness Analey will lead the discussions many centering on the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.
Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin and his team are in London ready to get started.
They’ll examine the implications of Brexit for Overseas Territories and how the UK will engage the Overseas Territories on negotiations with the EU.
Other topics include infrastructure and other economic development, good governance child safeguarding, human rights and international trade relationships.
Monday Premier McLaughlin joined with other Overseas Territories leaders as part of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association political council.
They agreed to establish a small forum to specifically address matters dealing with Brexit to inform and engage leaders before the UK/EU separation begins.
