Mom of three killed in car crash

A 43-year-old mother of three and grandmother of one was killed in an early morning crash in North Side today.

The woman has been identified as Heather Moffitt-Gibson of North Side.

Mrs Moffitt-Gibson’s husband Bobby issued a brief statement on Facebook this morning notifying friends and family of the tragedy.

He says she will be “greatly missed” and was a great mother to their three kids and “an even better” grandmother to their grandson.

According an RCIPS statement around 3am police and emergency personnel responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident along Rum Point Road in the vicinity of House #193.

Mrs Moffitt-Gibson, the driver of a burgundy Land Rover, was removed from the vehicle which crashed off the side of the roadway.

She was taken to Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced dead.

She was the lone occupant in the vehicle. Up to a short time ago police were on the scene of the accident conducting enquiries.

Rum Point Road is partially closed, however vehicle traffic is being allowed to pass.

The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this morning’s accident to call the Traffic Management Unit at 649-6254.
