New Caymanian dive instructor got start in CCMI programme

He took his first breath underwater, and never looked back.

Now he’s a newly-minted PADI dive instructor.

Daniel Dixon got his start in CCMI’s Young Environmentalist Leadership Course (YELC), a programme that introduces Caymanian students keen on the marine environment to coral reef ecology and eco-tourism.

Wednesday (19 October), he became the first graduate of that programme to attain his instructor certification…

“I really find diving to be a lot of fun, and just being in the water, I just really like the water, so just going through with it and making a career out of it, it was just a great opportunity,” said Mr. Dixon.

“Daniel was a natural all the way through, still is, he’s very very strong in the water, and so he’s going to be an asset to our company, that’s for sure,” said Ash McKnight of GoPro Diving, one of CCMI’s partners in the YELC.

Mr. Dixon wasted no time landing a job in the industry. He signed on with GoPro Divers, where he took his open water course.
