Parents discuss public education

Two parents who moved their children from public to private schools outlined their decisions to do so.

One of the parents is former Bodden Town MLA Mark Scotland who said his own displeasure with the system was the government’s decision to change the uniform policy of students.

“The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when they made the rule two years ago that boys can come with earrings, the boys come with their hair how they want, anything you want to do, the rule says you must keep it neat and tidy how you gonna have your hair neat and tidy when you have all kinds of afro and earrings and such,” Mr. Scotland said.
