Police use checkpoint to seek murder info

An RCIPS officer says a late Friday night traffic checkpoint helped his colleagues gain more information which may help solve a recent murder.

Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians were stopped Friday night and early Saturday (8 October) near Seven Mile Shops, the scene where Justin Manderson was shot to death exactly a week earlier.

Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay says officers were seeking area residents, taxi drivers and workers heading home who may have been in the vicinity seven nights earlier, “to see if they saw anything, heard anything unusual that they can pass on to us and help us with our investigation.”

The RCIPS asks anyone with information to contact them.
