Second pregnant woman confirmed with Zika virus

A second pregnant woman has tested positive for the Zika virus. Public Health said new test results received since Wednesday’s (11 October) update bring the total number of lab-confirmed cases to 28 – 18 of local transmission, and ten imported cases.

Public Health did not provide an update to the number of clinically suspected cases, which are physician diagnosed cases on patients that don’t require testing under World Health Organization guidelines.

Zika town hall meetings start next week at the following locations:

18 October – Bodden Town Civic Centre – 5:30pm
25 October – John A Cumber Primary – 5:30pm
1 November – North Side Civic Centre – 5:30pm
8 November – East End Civic Centre – 5:30pm
