Influenza has already affected an estimated 900 people in Cayman over the past two months at the start of the flu season, according to public health officials.
Flu clinics have already opened at the Cayman Islands Hospital and the district health centres. Immunizations are available from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. Additionally, vaccines are available in the hospital atrium on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The vaccine is free to residents.
Cayman 27’s Pat Kreitlow spoke to registered nurse Emma-Jane Cooke of TrinCay Medical Services about the groups of people who benefit most from getting a flu shot.
