It’s a sign of the high-tech times.
Cayman has its first community playground with wi-fi!
Former MLA Ellio Solomon promised a month ago that free wi-fi internet would be accessible in the Windsor Park Playground, to benefit the entire residential community.
After a few to hiccups between landowners and the telecommunications provider, the wi-fi system was set up last Saturday.
“One capacity shortage or another, but I believe we are entitled to equal opportunity, and primarily I want to make sure, one, we are improving the infrastructure of the Cayman islands, generally, but particularly when you have areas that are perhaps more disadvantaged to make sure they have the same equal opportunity of other persons that have access to the internet, access to that knowledge and be able to have a brighter future,” said Former MLA, Ellio Solomon.
Mr. Solomon says he’s hoping to see wi-fi installed in the Washington Boulevard Park, and eventually see free hotspots on all three islands.
The information and communications technology authority’s allowed its offices to be used to facilitate discussions on the wi-fi project.
