The 266-room Kimpton Seafire resort is described by its CEO as a “Boutique hotel” he says will attract a new type of tourist.
The Seafire ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday, with Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino on-hand.
A boutique hotel by definition is a small hotel with a limited amount rooms in a unique environment, with upscale accommodations and amenities.
Mr. Defrino says exposing the Kimpton brand to the Caribbean is a win-win for his business and the islands.
“We think that it is going to introduce both Kimpton and Cayman to a whole new customer, we think that there’s been a lot of other islands that have introduced lifestyle hotels and boutique hotels that have done very well and this being grand Cayman’s first boutique hotel, we think there is going to be quite a bit of interest and it’s going to bring in a different clientele than has traditionally come to Grand Cayman. ” Said Mike DeFrino, CEO of Kimpton Hotel & Restaurants.
This Kimpton is the chain’s first hotel outside the Continental Americas.
