Plans for another carnival are underway, calling for a similar celebration the weekend after Batabano.
The new plans for the Cayman Island’s newest carnival “CayMAS” were released this morning…
While similar in style to Batabano, organisers say this event would allow all corporate and private entities to take part and say it will be run in a professional and transparent way.
Organisers stopped short of saying this event would compete with Batabano.
“I wouldn’t say competing, what we’re doing is creating a new entity, we are creating a new energy, a new scene for carnival in Cayman, we’re very concentrated on creating a product that benefits not just masqueraders, not just the people locally, but also benefits the Cayman Islands,” said Craig Fredrick from Swanky International.
Batabano committee chairperson Donna Myrie could not be reached for comment.
The Braccanal celebration in Cayman Brac is scheduled for the same weekend as CayMAS.
