Indian women team defeats West Indian women team in first ODI

The Indian Women’s Cricket team powered to an easy six wicket victory over West Indies in the opening ODI of the three-match series.

A four-wicket haul and an unbeaten half-century helped India defeat West Indies to take a 1- 0 lead. Earlier in the day West Indies Captain Stefanie Taylor won the toss and elected to bat first.

Indian spinner Ekta Bisht took seven wickets as the Windies were bowled out for 131. Wicket-keeper Merissa Aguilleira was the only saving grace for the West Indian women, scoring an unbeaten 42.

The second ODI of the series is scheduled for November 13.

She graduated with honors in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida
