Manny Pacquiao to host Island Rumble 2017

One of the world’s most accomplished boxers is set to come to Cayman to host the Island Rumble 2017 Boxing Challenge.As Cayman 27 reported earlier this year, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will arrive in Cayman in January along with some of the regions best and some well known celebrities.

Matthew Leslie will be hosting a press conference tomorrow (Thursday 10 November) to discuss the event.

“We are excited now to reveal some of the guests including the newly belted welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. He is coming out of retirement, he is coming to host the event as well as Luis Cuba Arias. Gurps Rai, who is very famous for his $4 million shoes as well as being involved with future legends. He is the chairman of SDK International and they are making a major domination to the Cayman Islands, to the world of sports here it will be discussed at the press conference.”

The Island Rumble, press conference will discuss regional participation, celebrity guests as well as what’s needed to continue growing sports tourism in Cayman Islands.

Pacquio during his visit is expected break ground at the new $500,000 boxing gym in Bodden Town. The gym is part of a bigger makeover for the area around the Haig Bodden playing field…
