Nearly 100 swimmers participated in the Mike Lockwood Memorial Meet

The 2016 Mike Lockwood Memorial Swim Meet saw 98 swimmers making a splash at the Lions Pool, over four days as a part of the Pirates Week Festivities.

The meet saw swimmers from the Stingray Swim Club, Camana Bay Aquatic Club, Seven Mile Swimmers, Brac Barracudas and Special Olympics Cayman Islands. The swimmers from the SSC and the CBAC dominated the results.

In the overall points standings, Stingray Swim Club placed 1st with 867 points; Camana Bay Aquatic Club, 2nd with 840; Seven Mile Swimmers 3rd with 310 points; Brac Barracudas 4th with 24 and Special Olympics Cayman Islands 5th with 8 points.

High Points Winners Girls U6 – Casey Coles (SSC); Girls 7-8 Libby Lindley (SMS); Girls 9-10 Harper Barrowman (SMS); Girls 11-12 Avery Lambert (CBAC); Girls 13-14 Ria Plunkett (SSC) and Girls 15&Over Samantha Bailey (SSC).
Boys U6 Rylan Pearson (Unattached); Boys 7-8 Phin Ellison (CBAC); Boys 9-10 Harry Bishop (CBAC); Boys 11-12 Finn Bishop (CBAC); Boys 13-14 Zachary Moore (SSC) and Boys 15&Over Rory Barrett (CBAC).
The Stingray Swim Club invited all swimmers taking part to bring donations of dry foods for the Lions Food Pantry.

Jade Webster has rejoined the Cayman 27 Team as Sports Reporter/ Producer in August 2016. Jade has a background in News and has developed a passion for Sports while covering international Games. Jade was one of 35 Young Reporters selected worldwide to be apart of the Young Reporters Programme by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Second Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. She was awarded the 'Best IOC Young Reporter', and went on to cover the Second Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lilehammer, Norway. Jade was also selected as a Young Reporter in 2015 to cover the Toronto Pan American Games, where she was awarded a Hockey Stick for her hard-work and dedication. Jade was the Press Officer for the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. She graduated with honors in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida
