New goals for save the cove

“Save the Cove” organisers say their work will move on from the Smith Barcadere.

The Group created an uproar of community support that helped end plans to build condominiums near the cove.
Now, members say their next plans will be about maintaining beach access throughout the Islands, and bringing more clarity to the barkers national park situation.

“Just shows how many people love this small little beach, but it really resonated with residents, expats and travellers from abroad, everyone came out and signed the petition, I mean three thousand in fourty eight hours is quite a lot, when they did a petition for the port we got five thousand five hundred in total and that was after a year, so this was amazing, we’re just glad it resonated with people  and we hope to carry on the movement,” said Save The Cove Organizer, Morne Botes

Mr. Botes says he’s even been approached by others about getting marine park conservationists elected to the legislative assembly.
