Single car crash leaves man hospitalised, leaves thousands without power

A single-car crash early Tuesday (8 November) leaves one man hospitalised and a portion of the island without electricity for much of the day.

Around 2 a.m., a Lincoln Town Car driving at high speeds along West Bay Road slammed into a cement utility pole near Cemetery Beach.

The driver was taken to the Cayman Islands hospital with serious injuries.

 

cuc pic (1)CUC then cut power to roughly 6,000 customers  to repair damaged transmission lines and remove and replace a pole that was knocked down by the car.

Cayman’s energy provider says energy has been restored to many of the customers.
