Nearly five-hundred people came out this past weekend to see the iconic Caribbean band, Dave Martins and the Tradewinds.
The five members hail from all over the Caribbean, first uniting in Ontario, Canada in 1966, and they’ve been together ever since.
This year marks their 50th anniversary and over the weekend the band played a reunion show at Saturday’s Gimmi-Story event, as they have not played in Cayman for more than half a decade.
“They are not coming to see me you know, it’s the music, remember that, it’s the music, it’s always the music , same thing in Guyana, people always come up to me and hug me up, they are not hugging me up, it’s the music they are hugging up, but yes, it’s wonderful,” said Dave Martins, from the Tradewinds band.
The band’s hit “Honeymooning couple” brought them their initial fame back in ’66.
