West Indies women inflict T20I series whitewash on India

The West Indies women came back to whitewash India women 3-0 in their Twenty20 series and avenge their ODI series defeat.

West Indies scored a modest 139 for four from their allotted 20 overs but managed to restrict India to 124 for three.

Set to chase 140 for a consolation win in the series, the hosts lost three quick wickets in the powerplay and despite an undefeated 92-run stand between their skipper and an in-form Veda Krishmurthy, fell 15 short of the mark.

Hayley Matthews gave West Indies a flying start after her skipper Stafanie Taylor opted to set a target again. Even as the Indian spinners kept a check in the middle overs to peg West Indies back, another assuring knock from Taylor’s bat – a 55-ball 44 – set the platform for their winning total of 139 for 4
