A former Personal Assistant to two Members of the Legislative Assembly is convicted after standing trial on accusations she organised an armed robbery of a nail salon while posing as one of the customers. Christine Rae Smith was found guilty Wednesday (7 December) of three counts of robbery and for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
During the July 2015 hold-up at Elegant Nails on Godfrey Nixon Way, two gunmen robbed three women along with Ms. Smith. Her boyfriend at the time, Paul Myles, has already admitted his role as one of the robbers. Texts between Mr. Myles and Ms. Smith shortly before the robbery were the centerpiece of the crown’s case against her. At the time of the robbery, she was a P.A. to MLA’s Winston Connolly and Roy McTaggart.
Justice Charles Quin will hand down his sentence on 27 January.
