Nearly 1,300 participants ran along some or all of the Intertrust Cayman Island Marathon course on Sunday (4 December) in an event made possible by nearly 300 more people who volunteered to help the event run smoothly. Cayman 27’s Pat Kreitlow joined the pre-dawn volunteers at the checkpoint farthest from the start-finish festivities to see how they play a role in building up the reputation of a marathon that attracts 170 overseas runners and many more visitors.
