Police say one of their own was assaulted over the weekend.
A 27-year old West Bay man punched an officer in the face during an incident at a police roadblock early Saturday (10 December), according to an RCIPS press release.
Police say a passenger in a car was asked to stop using profanities toward officers. When he refused to exit the vehicle, police placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct and say that’s when he struck the officer.
Officers then pepper-sprayed the man.
The officer was treated at the Cayman Islands Hospital.
The man was scheduled to appear in court Monday (12 December) to face charges of assault and assault causing actual bodily harm.
