Trust manager takes on PR Board and Immigration

Trust manager Mark Edmunds filed a judicial review application challenging the Caymanian Status and PR board’s continuing failure to make a decision on his more than two-year long permanent residency application.
He also contends the Chief Immigration Officer is failing in his duty to carry out the law in the absence of action from the board.
Mr Edmunds claims the failure by the Board to issue any decisions on pending applications amounts to an unlawful moratorium on PR.
He claims his human rights, as well as, Cayman’s Constitution has been breached by the inaction.
Mr Edmunds is seeking declarations that the failure is unlawful, irrational, disproportionate and contrary to the principles of natural justice.
He also seeking the recovery of the fees he’s paid thus far, with interest, as well as, legal costs for his application for judicial review.
The lawsuit, filed last week by HSM law firm on Mr Edmunds behalf, also seeks an order obliging either the board or the Chief Immigration Officer to consider his application within 2 weeks of order
