UK officers look at Cayman’s Customs and Immigration

Two senior UK Border force officers are now taking a closer look at the inner workings of Cayman’s customs and immigrations departments
The officers, Sam Bullimore Deputy Director Border Force Intelligence Directorate and Timothy Coward National Container Targeting and Risk manager, arrived in the Cayman last weekend for a scoping visit.
They are currently assessing local operations and areas border force could work with customs and immigration on policy and training.
The Governor’s Office, in response to Cayman 27 queries, says “It is important that Cayman keeps up to date with latest trends, thinking and policy in these areas which are vital to the UK and the Cayman Islands. And a proposal for a package of work will be developed on the back of the visit.”
The strength of Cayman’s border patrol has been put to the test as authorities continue to hunt those who arrived on a drug canoe in east end last month. And last week a man wanted on a two-decades old terrorism charge in Turkey was arrested after arriving on a cruise ship.
