Falcon Athletics Jaden Francis set a personal best this past weekend (26-27 May) at the 2018 Atlanta Georgia Relays held at the New Manchester High School.
Francis, 14, finished 2nd overall in the Girls 15-16 400 Meter Dash with a time of 56.43 seconds. Francis dropped time from her previous PB (57.02) set at April’s CARIFTA Games while competing in the Under-17 Girls 400 metre semifinals.
“I was very happy with the 400 because it truly showed the work I put in on the track, so I was glad I was able to put that time down.”
The Cayman Prep standout also competed in the Girls 15-16 200 meters finishing 7th overall with a time of 25.80 seconds. Francis says she is hoping to improve on her time and use this meet as a building block.
“The 200 was a little disappointing but you can’t win them all. I have Nationals and others meets to improve my time.”
Francis added she plans to finish the year strong and see more improvements in her times.
“There’s Nationals first where I’m planning to drop even more time in my 400. I just look at it, as long as there’s one person in front of me, anything helps. By the end of this season, I hope to break 56, so that next year I can break. You take it one meet at a time, and any PB helps.”
