BREAKING: 83-year-old tourist dies following incident at Stingray City

An 83-year-old man dies while in the waters near Stingray City.

The incident happened shortly before 2:15 p.m. Tuesday (15 May.)

According to an RCIPS statement Wednesday (16 May), a report was received that a snorkeler went missing in the water.

Shortly after, the man — a visitor from the US —  was found unconscious by a nearby boat and brought onboard. CPR was administered to the man as the boat returned to shore. Once on shore, the man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by emergency services.

He was later pronounced dead. Police have not released his identity.

Seven people have now died in Cayman waters this year.
