Cayman Islands Port Authority Director Clement Reid has been suspended with immediate effect.
This comes on the heels of a damning Auditor General’s report on irregularities at the Authority, including questionable spending, hiring and HR practices.
A brief statement from the Board was issued a short while ago confirming the suspension, which will run for a period of up to three months “in order to facilitate an internal investigation into matters allegedly concerning Mr. Reid.”
The statement says in the interim Joseph Woods has been appointed as Acting Port Director.
“All Port Authority operations will continue as normal and a further statement will be made once the investigation has concluded,” the statement reads.
Cayman 27 contacted the Ministry of Transport for comment on the suspension. We were informed that the Board was handling that matter and we should contact Chair Errol Bush.
