Dart applies for festival grounds

The Central Planning Authority Wednesday heard applications put forward by representatives from Dart Real Estate, Wednesday 16th May at the 2nd meeting of the month.

The applications seek permissions ahead of next year’s KAABOO festival for an event site, for a marl parking area and to widen an approved pathway.

The proposed festival area includes the land north of the Kimpton Seafire resort.

Dart Real Estate President Jackie Doak presented plans to the 13 member board. She says the grounds would have parking for more than 1,700 cars. The land’s surface would have permissible material to allow for drainage. The applications would also allow for access to water, electricity and sewage.

Two objectors attended the meeting but several more objectors wrote to the CPA board. They include those staying in nearby condominium complexes, who expressed concerns about the festival creating noise and trash left behind in their residential area from the thousands of people taking part in the festivities.
