The National Weather Service continues its public education programme with a timely topic: the hurricane season.
With hurricane season officially underway effective Friday, 1 June, the NWS is sharing a list of definitions for key weather terms you might hear in forecasts and weather reports during the next several months.
“Things like tropical wave: what is a tropical wave? What’s a hurricane? What are things like storm surge and stuff like that, things that you are likely to hear more frequently during the hurricane season,” said Mr. Tibbetts.
