New mammogram machine arrives at HSA

The highly anticipated mammogram machine for the Cayman Islands Hospital is finally in its new home.

HSA radiology manager Pamela Vaughn Duncan says the machine will be put straight to work to help detect and improve the health of patients who need it. “With this system we are able to detect the cancer sooner because of the ability of tomosynthesis which cuts the breast into very thing 1 millimeter slices,” said Mrs. Duncan.

Mrs. Duncan said as of tomorrow (24 May,) patients can start accessing the machine.
