Premier meets with UK PM, says discussions ongoing on Public BO registries issue

Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin meets with United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss public beneficial ownership registries.
It relates to the amendment in the UK’s Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Bill. They seek to force Overseas Territories to create registries by 2020.
Overseas territories like Cayman, Bermuda and the British Virgin Islands bristled at the idea.
According to a Premier’s office statement, Mr. McLaughlin and Ms. May met privately.
No further details on that meeting were shared.
The Premier also had two separate meetings with David Lidington.
He’s the de facto deputy  UK Prime Minister and Minister of State in the Cabinet Office.
Mr. Lidington also holds responsibility for constitutional matters with the UK Government.
We reached out to the Premier’s team for more on the meetings, but they only said dialogue is ongoing and a full update will be provided next week.
