West Bay MLA Bernie Bush has been hospitalized and is scheduled to undergo bypass heart surgery in the coming days.
The Government backbench MLA is at Health City, East End and is said to be in good spirits.
Mr. Bush had a number of visitors today (2 June) including Bodden Town West MLA Chris Saunders who wished him the best ahead of his surgery.
The Deputy House Speaker was warded after doctors detected a mild blockage in his heart.
The MLA was participating in one of his community projects with kids from his constituency Thursday (31 May) at West Bay Primary when he was told by one of the children that he didn’t look like himself.
Yesterday evening he visited his doctors where he underwent a series of tests.
While there the blockage was detected and he was sent to Health City.
He said he was overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and love from his constituents and was looking forward to getting back to his community work.
His surgery is planned for Wednesday (6 June.)
