The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) made another arrest relating to an ongoing investigation involving former Cayman Islands Football Association leaders(CIFA).
The ACC in a statement dated Monday (4 June) said its investigators arrested a 47-year-old George Town man. It did not name the man, but, said the arrest is in connection with an ongoing investigation and previous arrests made in June of 2017.
That’s when former CIFA first vice president Bruce Blake and former treasurer Canover Watson were arrested. The ACC on Monday declined to confirm whether the investigation surrounding Mr. Blake or CIFA were ongoing.
The man arrested today (4 June) was held on suspicion of secret commission, money laundering and conspiracy to defraud. He was detained for questioning at the Fairbanks Prisoner Detention Centre and was released on bail.
Cayman 27 reached out to CIFA President Alfredo Whittaker who said he was unaware of the arrest. Attorney for Bruce Blake, Steve McField said he has not heard from Mr. Blake regarding the matter.
