Sailing: Hider finishes fourth at Laser 4.7 Class U.S. Nationals

Cayman’s Ava Hider placed fourth overall in her class at the 2018 Laser Class United States National held 29 June-3 July at the Houston Yacht Club.

Hider, 15, sailed in Laser 4.7 Fleet among a total of eight boats for the tournament. For the regatta, 119 boats competed in three different classes: Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7.
The Cayman International School two-sport standout most recently finished second overall at the Cayman Islands Sailing Club’s Spring Regatta in May. She also won gold in the Girls 3000-metres and silver in the 1500-metres at May’s 2018 BayTaf Classic in Tampa, Florida.
