East End Primary aims to increase literacy with story-based YouTube channel

Educators of East End Primary School are ensuring their students never go to bed without hearing a good story.

In light of September’s Literacy Day, Deputy Principal Jessica Jackson launched the school’s first YouTube channel. Jackson says the channel, which now features videos of teachers reading bedtime stories, accommodates the lifestyles of both their students and parents.

“There are several reasons why parents may not be able to read to their children at night. We know parents are busy, we know some families don’t have a lot of books at home. We know sometimes kids are in town until late at night. The YouTube channel offers children and family the opportunity to always have a book to be read to at night.”
