Tyre explosion leaves one man dead

Both police and health and safety officers from the Department of Labour and Pensions have launched investigations after a man was killed in an industrial accident Sunday (28 October.)

Two others were also injured.

The incident happened at around 4 p.m. at a quarry on Lakeview Drive in Bodden Town.

Police said the men were using an industrial compressor to put air in a tyre when the tyre exploded leaving a 54-year-old man dead and two others with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police protocol, the name of the victim will not be released until his relatives are notified.
