Fire Services spreads the love at Sunrise Centre

Clients at the Sunrise Adult Training Centre got a special treat from Cayman’s Fire Services on Friday (30 November.)

They were feted with food and lots of fun activities as firemen spread the seasonal love. It was one of their ways of giving back to the community.

“One of my coworkers live right next door and he brought it to my attention and I said it’s a great idea let’s deal with this,” said Fireman John Bodden.

Mr. Bodden put that great idea into action treating clients of Sunrise Centre to a special day on Friday (30 November) and he had the support of Fire Chief David Hails to do it.

“So this time of year it’s great to get out into the community towards Christmas to put on a meal for an establishment which helps towards the local community,” said Mr. Hails.

Mr. Hails said the Sunrise Centre was an ideal fit for what the firemen wanted to do.

“We choose this group of people because this Centre takes in people from the whole island. So it’s not specific to West Bay, it’s an island-wide thing so it’s fantastic to come here to today,” said Mr. Hails.

He said his team’s effort was welcomed by everyone.

“We made them play on the fire trucks, play with the hoses, spraying water. They were speaking with the guys giving and getting hugs,” said Mr. Hails.

Sunrise Adult Training Centre director Kim Voaden said the firemen provided a variety of goods in the name of Christmas.

“We’ve had delicious burgers, pizza, cake, cupcakes, and of course, Christmas is right around the corner and its the season to give to each other, to share and be friendly with each other so we are doing just that today,” said Ms. Voaden.
