Fuel price controls? Premier: We have no advice on it

If you were hoping for lower fuel prices for Christmas, you will have to wait a little longer.
Acting OfReg CEO Duke Munroe said the regulator is still in the process of finding a firm to assess Cayman’s fuel market before it can make any recommendations.
The issue of high fuel prices was raised by East End MLA Arden McLean in the Legislative Assembly last Thursday (22 November.)
There have been calls for price controls within the fuel market, but that too remains a wait and see for consumers.
Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin also addressed this issue, saying, “We have not yet received any advice relating to the adoption of any policy by the Government with respect to price control or regulation with respect to the fuels market.”
The OfReg team has assured legislators that they are committed to addressing all concerns raised about Cayman’s high fuel prices.
