Governor elaborates on plans for second RCIPS helicopter

The Governor outlined on Thursday (1 November) the benefits of a joint initiative between the UK and Cayman, which will see the purchase and operation of a second helicopter to assist the RCIPS Air Operations Unit.

Martyn Roper announced the plan in his address on Monday (29 October). He then clarified why he believed a second helicopter is important.

“This is a really positive development because to have a second helicopter will make a huge difference to law enforcement capacity,” the Governor said.

“It will make a huge difference if there are disasters and crises in the region in terms of the ability to support other territories, so I think this is a really positive story and a good example of UK and Cayman working together to make effective progress,” he explained.
