Work on creating Cayman’s Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman (WORC) agency and the Customs and Border Control agency is ramping up.
Immigration Ministry Chief Officer Wesley Howell said now that the agencies have the green light from legislators it is all hands on deck for their creation.
He stressed come what may the immigration changes passed in the LA will take still effect.
“As of January 1st Ms. Sharon Roulstone, our interim Director will be the person in the seat deciding on, ultimately, deciding on work permits, permanent residency and the right to be Caymanian,” Mr. Howell said.
On Monday (19 November) Opposition legislators voted with the government to approve changes to the Immigration Law which paves the way for the closure of the Immigration Department and creation of WORC and the border agency.
