Petition to save Barkers beach

A petition has been started to save Barkers Beach which some claim may be under environmental threat. According to the petition creator, Save Barkers Beach, businessman Handel Whittaker has proposed to build a 300-foot dock, if the dock is built almost 200,000 square feet of turtle grass will have to be removed.

The petition is calling for the project to be stopped.

It has set a target of getting 1500 people to sign the petition and so far they have passed 1100. We reached out to Mr. Wittaker for comment, he declined to give any information.
