Pirates Week road closures announced

Pirates Week is here. 

Along with all the pomp and circumstance, those in Grand Cayman should also expect plenty of road closures in George Town. We’ve got them listed here: 

Date:                    Wednesday, 7 November, from 7 p.m.  to 6 a.m. on Thursday, 8 November:

Location:             Harbour Drive between the entrance to the Port Authority and Shedden Road.

Reason:               Set-up.

Date:                   Thursday, 8 November, from 7 p.m.  to 6 a.m.  on Friday, 9 November:

Location:             Harbour Drive between the entrance to the Port Authority and Shedden Road.

Reason:               Set-up.

 

Date:                    Friday, 9 November, from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, 11 November:

Location:             Harbour Drive between the entrance to the Port Authority and Shedden Road 

Reason:               Set-up, Waterfront Sound Invasion Street Dance, tear-down, set-up, Saturday Street Dance, tear down.

                                      

 Date:                   Friday, 9 November, from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, 11 November:  

 Location:            Warwick Drive at the intersection with Harbour Drive.

                              Boilers Road at the intersection with Walkers Road.

                              Goring Avenue will be closed.

Reason:               5K Run, Waterfront Sound Invasion Street Dance, tear-down, set-up, Saturday Street           Dance, tear down

 

Date:                       Friday, 9 November – 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, 11 November:

Location:                Harbour Drive will be closed at Fort Street (and remains closed up to Shedden Road).

                                 Albert Panton Street will be closed between the Margaritaville entrance and Cardinal Avenue.

Reason:                   Waterfront Sound Invasion

 

Date:                     Saturday, 10 November, from 8 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, 11 November:

Location:              Harbour Drive remains closed between the Port Authority entrance and Shedden Road.

                            Albert Panton Street remains closed between the Margaritaville entrance and Cardinal Avenue.

                            South Church Street will be closed between Boilers Road and Shedden Road.

                            Shedden Road will be closed at the intersection of Elgin Avenue.

                           Boilers Road will be closed between Walkers Road and South Church Street.

                            Goring Avenue remains closed.

Reason:                Harbour Drive Festival Events – Landing, Float Parade, Street Dance.

 

Date:                     Saturday, 10 November, from 2-6 p.m.

Location:               North Church Street will be closed at Mary Street. Edward Street will be closed.

                              Fort Street will be closed at the intersection with Edward Street.

                              Shedden Road will be closed between Harbour Drive and Main Street.

                              Goring Avenue will be closed between South Church Street and the entrance to RBC.

Reason:                Float Parade.

 

 Date:                   Sunday, 11 November, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location:             Motorists should exercise caution travelling West Bound on Shamrock Road in the vicinity of Spotts Public Beach

Reason:              Spotts Beach Turtle Release

 

Date:                    Sunday, 11 November, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday, 12 November:

 Location:             Harbour Drive will be closed between Goring Avenue and Boilers Road

 Reason:               Soaked Wet Fete

 

 Date:                  Monday, 12 November, from 5 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, 13 November:

Location:             Harbour Drive will be closed between the entrance to the Port Authority and Shedden Road.

                            Albert Panton Street will be closed between the Margaritaville entrance and Cardinal Avenue

Reason:               Culture Shop Family Street Fair, Culture Jam, Sentencing of the Pirates, Illumination Parade, Fireworks and Street Dance Finale.
