Saunders motion gets unanimous support, extra $$ in the cards for top performing civil servants

Top performing civil servants may soon be getting some extra spending money.
On Thursday (15 November) government agreed to consider creating a steering committee to implement a performance-based incentive scheme to reward hard-workers.
It came as legislators voted unanimously on a motion from Bodden Town West MLA Chris Saunders calling for the same.
“We are talking about building a world-class civil service and also building a world-class financial industry and a world-class tourism destination then we need to understand that we need to start looking at world-class compensation and on top of that people will be surprised to know this is actually also in the law, it has just never been implemented,” said MLA Saunders.
Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson said the scheme is included in the civil service five-year strategic plan.

He committed to have the committee present its report on the scheme to the LA within the next 12 months.
