Into the Blue: Students dive in with CCMI

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI), jump head first into a busy new year. CCMI has been hosting a group of students from the University of Delaware.

The students are 1st and 2nd year marine biology students. It’s their first chance to experience field study. The students are learning how to collect data, identify species, and for some attaining their diving certification for the very first time. The student will wrap up their study at the end of the month.

It’s not just university students that will learn from CCMI. CCMI is already planning its summer sea camp. Taking place in June and August of this year, the camp will take place in a resort on Little Cayman. Students will get a hands-on-education, centered around basic marine ecology.
