Could there be a shake-up in the Legislative Assembly (LA) at the next sitting?
It is possible now that there are four independents sitting on the opposition benches, outnumbering Opposition Leader Hon. McKeeva Bush’s party by one.
Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin explained what could happen on our talk show The Panel.
“Political party includes any group of people who are in opposition to the government. The constitution also requires the governor to satisfy herself as to who the majority of the members in opposition support as the Leader of the Opposition. So I think the next couple of weeks are going to be interesting as to whether those four are content in leaving Mr. Bush as Leader of the Opposition of if they will chose one of their own,” said Mr. McLaughlin.
The LA is expected to sit sometime in the coming weeks.
