The mother of Devon Anglin said she feels her son was made a sacrificial lamb by the police, and should never have been charged.
Katina Anglin sat just yards from Devon in court as he was cleared of murdering Jeremiah Barnes, but could only watch on as he was driven back to Northward Prison were he’s serving life for another murder.
“Without a doubt the police has identified my son as the sacrificial lamb,” said Mrs. Anglin.
“They should never have charged my son. From the night of the statement. They looked at the CCTV evidence shortly after the incident. They took interviews, shortly after the incident and those three pieces of evidence from the get go, they were inconsistent.”
Commissioner of Police David Baines issues a short statement after the verdict and said while he was disappointed, their thoughts remain with the parents of Jeremiah, adding: “They fully played their part in ensuring that evidence was presented at trial, and have sought justice for their son for several years now.
“We are obviously disappointed with this verdict, but our thoughts remain with the parents and family first and foremost.”
