Much needed mulch

18,000 Christmas tree were ground up into mulch over the weekend, and it seems the pleasant aroma was enough to draw people out of the their beds at the crack of dawn. Armed with their shovels, bucket, bags and even pick-up trucks; everyone came to get their pile of mulched Christmas trees.

Each Year the DEH collects and Recycles Christmas trees and then gives it away for free, and this year there was enough mulch to fill 2 1/2 dump trucks. The DEH says mulching trees is an excellent way to help reduce the amount of waste entering the landfill, plus that mulch has been proven to be good for gardens.
